Not as gross as you think

Never thought I would use these before but now I can't look at disposable pads anymore without cringing a bit. I used this in conjunction with a menstrual cup and I normally get a few bumps and rashes on my bottom from 'heat rash' with disposable pads...not the case with these. Plan on getting a few more to rotate them out more so I do not have to rewash them daily.

Don't hesitate. These are well worth it.

As far as reviewing reusable pads goes, let me say that they are a VERY good idea and yes, you should go for it. Between these and a Diva Cup my periods are so much easier to manage, and I say that as a woman with endometriosis. When I used tampons and disposable pads my skin was incredibly sensitive, overly dry, and added a ton of pain to my periods. When you're as heavy as me, this is a big problem because all the switching products out increases the sensitivity. Since switching the sensitivity and dryness is gone, which is a huge relief! Organic cotton makes a HUGE difference - save your skin from all those harsh synthetic chemicals that also absorb into your blood stream! These pads wash in the washing machine very easily without leaving stains. The reason I docked a star is because I have to iron the inserts to keep them flat. They come out of the dryer folded over on themselves, and then they fit into the pad all scrunched up and don't like to lay flat. That said, I don't know how the inserts could be any different. I just know that their overnight pad inserts are not quite as problematic. I've never had to iron those to keep them flat. The other minor issue is that the ends of these pads come to a point instead of a round edge like shown in the photo. The pads still work, but a rounded edge would be so much nicer.

Great! I'll be buying these again.

I had begun the non-disposable lifestyle a year ago with another brand. After a year they had started tearing and the lint inside leaked out. Also one pad the snaps tore out of the fabric when I tried to unsnap it. These ones seem to be made from just layers of cloth, so even once they start to wear out, I'll still be able to use them... no lint leaks. I can't say how durable they are yet of course so I will try to remember to update this in a year or two.I find the edges tolerably soft even though they are crudely done. Serged instead of folded in. But it makes a less bulky seam that way even though it looks less fancy.I think my first set were Lunapads, or something very much like them. The snaps were on wings extending from the main pad- in contrast these have the snap on a separate band sewn to the underside of the pad. I think this style shifts around less though I can't explain the physics of why. The other difference is that the extra liner for heavier pads, in my old set was tucked under a flap at each end, & in these goes actually inside the pad. I feel this is much more secure. My old ones, the insert shrank and didn't get much overlap anymore with the tabs meant to hold it in. I bet sometimes, between the pad shifting and the removable liner being held so weakly... it's likely possible for that removable liner to fall out... down the pantleg and out onto the floor. At least that was my worry. With the way this brand assembles, I no longer worry. The extra piece CAN NOT fall out.Even if these only last me a year, I think I'll still repurchase them due to these small design details that make them superior to my old brand.Compared to the many types sold here and on Etsy... I like these because they are 100% untreated cotton. Most others have dye, use synthetic stuffing, or have a synthetic layer to prevent leaks. I want to avoid unnecessary chemicals so I like these: nice simple cotton & nothing but!I couldn't tell you if they are enough for heavy flow. I only give them light-duty use myself: the first couple days and last couple days of my period when there isn't enough flow to bother with the cup, & as backup during heavy days in case the cup is in crooked & leaks or something.
