Excellent product, but skip this size and go directly to the 3 oz size! Smell is amazing, like a cross between vanilla, allspice, and campfire, is my best way to describe it. A little splash of this stuff goes a long way, and being alcohol free, it doesn't burn at all, though a pleasant tingle lets you know its working its magic. I've found myself shaving more frequently just so I can use this more! Definitely make sure to shake it well!I'm taking it down to 4 stars vs 5 because you can get 3 times the product for only $7 more, so this is definitely not the best bang for your buck. 3 oz size gets 5 stars all day long!

If you woke up in the morning, geared up, headed out to climb a mountain, kill a deer a 500m (maybe with your bare hands - at range), chop down a few trees, eat a pound of bacon, and then shower up before taking your lady to dinner and producing more offspring, then this probably will be your scent. It's as if James Bond spliced his genes with Grizzly Adams and then sat in a sauna and the sweat was bottled.Seriously though, others have tried to describe the scent. It's difficult to do. It's true that there is a strong scent of vanilla when first applied. But its not an overly feminine vanilla and has a darker characteristic to it. There is an earthy scent that lingers underneath, and the scent "matures" well over the minutes and hours that follow application.The scent lasts most of the day as well. I find that after applying it, while not as strong, I'll still catch hints of it on my skin up to about 10-12 hours after application. I've read some complaints in the reviews that there isn't enough in the bottle for the money. You DO NOT need to bathe in the stuff. Really, a few drops is all that is needed. I've also read some people's reviews say that there isn't any evidence that it does anything other than add a fragrance to your skin. I disagree. While it doesn't have the burn of alcohol (seriously, why do you want your face to burn? That feeling, to me, is most closely associated with cheap products), you can definitely feel it on application leaving the skin tightened, soothed, and refreshed. It just works.It might not be for everyone. No scent or product is. But, for me, it's a great little luxury that I will continue to go with for the foreseeable future. And, compared to some after shave products, it really is reasonably priced. Sure, it's definitely more costly than picking up some cheap drugstore post shave products... but it's not like you're breaking the bank here either. And a bottle should last for a few months if you're not bathing in it. I'm sure most of us can manage a $10 price bump over the "cheap stuff" over a few month period. Just leave the extra cheese off of your whopper or something.Give it a shot. I'm willing to bet that most of you readers will be impressed. Really, I'll be shocked if you've read this far anyway... but if you have... just add it to your cart and give it a go.

I love this stuff. Great smell and relatively long lasting. You don't need a lot....just a few drops. So I have unscented aftershave balm (Lather and Wood Shaving Co.- great stuff also!) in a pump bottle that I mix with it in my hand to get enough to cover my face. This also allows me to control how much of the smell I want by mixing unscented with the Smolder.As for the smell...hmmm....I get a sort of a hint of warm french toast with syrup smell. I guess that is the vanilla and some cinnamon and some other scents. Perhaps others get something else as far as smell.....it's just my perception. But it's sort of a warm, very pleasurable smell. It doesn't have that sickly sweet cologne type odor you often get from off the shelf brand aftershaves...it's so much better. And the smell lasts into the early afternoon but is soft and muted after an hour or two.

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas present - I LOVE this scent! HE loves the scent! I was so afraid that this would arrive and be a bust. First, my hubby doesn't really wear colognes or use any strongly scented product. The last aftershave he used was so horrible it actually made me want to use physical violence upon his person. (I believe we found what can take out the roaches if a nuclear holocaust doesn't...) In short, it was basically assault and battery to the olfactory sense.Not this. Nope! This aftershave has the most subtle pleasant smell - I THINK there's a bit of a vanilla base, but not feminine at all. It is a very appealing scent that is present without being overpowering. I suppose that my husband liking it is a bonus, but the fact that it makes me want to get closer to him as opposed to hosing him down with a high powered hose "prison style" - that says a lot. Oh! The bottle IS small, but a little goes a long way, so unless you're taking a bath in this stuff (which, you shouldn't. There is truth to the adage of "Too Much Of A Good Thing". Don't ruin it, man. Seriously.) this little bottle should last you a while. Highly recommend and will most definitely end up purchasing again.ps - Not sure about other dudes, but my guy has skin that breaks out easy. This aftershave has NOT caused any unwanted acne attacks.
