I thought this would be like henna tattoos and easy to just follow the stencils I got to make some neat designs that would stick around for a while. I applied some and let it sit for a while but I could not leave it on for hours because I had things to do and could not risk it getting on fabric or wanting it too smudge and mess up the design I created. It stayed for few good days before fading . I do take daily baths and that is one reason I wanted something that would not come off so soon. I think it would have dyed my skin better had I left it on as it suggests but again I didnt have time for that and am not sure when I would. I like the separate bottle and extra nozzles included.

So I have never used or worn any type of henna or jaguar gel before, so I can't compare to other brands or types out there. I was really excited to try this Jaguar gel since it has pretty good reviews so I ordered it, more so because its pretty inexpensive and I thought it would be a fun new art hobby to learn. Please know that this is NOT henna. Its Jagua gel and is made from a FRUIT. It clearly states that if you are allergic or sensitive to any type of fruit, especially tropical fruits to not use or test on a small area of skin first to make sure your skin doesn't have a negative reaction to the gel. I had allergies to mangoes as a kid. I'm now 32 and I went ahead and used it without testing on my skin like the recommend doing. My boyfriend applied the gel to my back and shoulders and about 3-4 days after applying it, I got sores that covered some if the spots on my skin that were done. The sores were open and very painful but they healed fast. You are supposed to apply the gel a d leave it sit for up to 3 hours and then rinse off of your skin. After rinsing off the excess, dried jagua, the stain left on your skin will be VERY light and you might think it didn't work. Here's how it works, because, it IS working! It gets darker as time go by so even when faint at first, just give it time and by day 2-3 it will become MUCH darker.

My design looks like a drunken octopus, but despite my questionable art skills, the dye itself does ends up looking like a real tattoo. This set doesn't have stencils, so you will have rely on your drawing skills. You do get a lot more dye compared to sets with stencils, so buy the sets and use this as a refill. The other thing this set lacks is the little tips that look the end of a thick needle. I prefer those for drawing. The longer you leave the dye on as it dries, the darker your design will be. The design is supposed to last about 2 weeks depending on how often you wash the area. A design on the hand won't last as one on the ankle. Overall, this seems to be a solid buy.
