My husband has slightly elevated cholesterol levels that require him to take medication to lower it. I have no idea where he read that a certain kind of coffee filter can help lower his levels. But we did happen to need a new coffee filter so he bought this one because it’s suppose to have something in it or about it that could lower his cholesterol. I think it seems silly-but maybe his bloodwork results will make me feel like the fool. Anyway the filter works great-I dislike the shape of it because of its creases are a bit challenging to clean out the small coffee grounds from.

Since this is probably the only reusable filter for this coffee maker, you don't really have a choice except for paper filters. It is a little small for the ground coffee basket. Additionally, it has no screen in the bottom, only on the sides. The end result is that some grounds get into the coffee. The good news is that the grounds sink to the bottom of the coffee pot. As a result I normally do not get grounds in my coffee cup. On the other hand I do get grounds in my coffee cup if I am pouring the last cup. This filter could be better but it is adequate.

Bought a new Mr. Coffee 3qt iced tea maker, love it. Had the old one but the acrylic pitcher cracked. The new one is made a little different. Hated the idea of using paper filters, totally frustrating. I use sugar and with a paper filter, it doesn't dissolve. So after a ton of research on filter size and type I landed on this one. The screen bottom is exactly what you want. Most Gold Filters for Mr. Coffee are solid bottom, I wanted to avoid this, again because I wanted the sugar to dissolve. Popped this in... EXACTLY PERFECT SIZE! Almost all of the sugar dissolves, a tiny bit left but I can live with that. Put this thing in the dishwasher and ready to go again, quick and easy. Now I have time to enjoy my iced tea this summer without the paper filter frustration. Highly recommend this for the iced tea maker.

Update: still preventing disasters after three years. Easy to use and clean. Love it!I bought this more or less on a whim -- yet another paper filter had somehow contrived to shift itself in our coffee maker and dumped grounds into the coffee and all over my freshly-scrubbed counter. Besides, I was tired of wrestling paper filters out of the package and calling upon the eldritch gods in an effort to get them to sit straight.I'm glad I bought this thing. There hasn't been a coffee-ground incident since.User incompetence was certainly part of the difficulty with the old paper filters -- but I didn't seem to be getting any better at using them, so I'm awfully glad that this filter has all but eliminated the possibility of user error (like, I guess I could see putting it in upside-down, maybe, if one is really, really caffeine-deprived?). Moreover, paper filters present an ongoing drain on environmental and fiscal resources, and this filter eliminates those issues.This filter does a fine job keeping the grounds out of the finished coffee whilst allowing for full flavor. The little bail at the top makes fishing it out of the machine easy. The fit in our coffee machine (an elderly Sunbeam model) is just about right; our machine is on the smaller side, so larger machines may need a larger filter basket.The only potentially-difficult part of using this is knocking the grounds out; I suspect, though, that's a function of the entire class of reusable filters, not just this particular model.I'm entirely satisfied with this filter so far.
