I ditched fabric softener several years ago, but it was only within the last couple years that I started using wool dryer balls. My original set of five are still doing great, but I wanted to add a few more to my laundry arsenal. As far as wool dryer balls go, these Bubby's Bubbles dryer balls are as described, don't have a strong lanolin/wool scent, and appear to be well made. I appreciate all of the eco-friendly/sustainability efforts made by this manufacturer, including the lack of plastic packaging. For those who are concerned about the balls being unsanitary from lack of plastic, please just throw them in a hot water wash and dry on high heat. That is how you "recharge" them after a while as well, so it's safe to do. All that aside, let me tell you a bit about wool dryer balls, and WHY you should use them instead of fabric softener:1) Wool dryer balls are cheaper to use per load than fabric softener.2) Wool balls shorten dryer time, saving *more* money on your utility bills (they absorb extra moisture and help separate the clothes while tumbling).3) Fabric softener coats your clothing and it's not good. Your clothes smell and feel great because you are coating them with a product. Eventually, that causes issues. Clothing develops a film that makes stains and odors harder to remove, and ruins sweat-wicking properties. I won't even get into potential skin issues or chemicals involved, because I don't know enough about the latter to say anything with certainty. But, I do know from experience that softener ruins workout clothing. I used to buy expensive athletic wear, only to be puzzled why it would start reeking of sweat and never come "clean" despite all washing attempts. Once I stopped using fabric softener, the problem ended.4) Clean clothes and sheets that aren't covered in artificial scent are better for you. Remember the days when everyone sprayed air freshener all the time, or used those plug-ins, only to learn about nasty chemicals and endocrine disrupters? Yeah. I don't trust fabric softener and dryer sheets either.5) Your washer or dryer (if using dryer sheets) gets coated. Does your washing machine have a funky smell? Have you noticed "sludge" appearing in your frontloader's gasket? STOP using fabric softener! While there are other contributing factors (cold washes, liquid detergents with additives, etc.) softener is a big contributor to sludgy, smelly machines.6) Wool dryer balls are eco-friendly and sustainable. Fabric softener is not.I feel pretty strongly about this, because I think quitting softener should be an easy no-brainer for most folks. However, so many people are entrenched in the marketing of fabric softener that has gone on for decades. It's just Not. Necessary. Still worried about extra static? Here's a tip: Don't over-dry your clothes and clip a safety pin onto one of the wool balls before tumbling to help disrupt it. Problem solved. Now go buy some wool dryer balls from this company that actually cares about its product, people, animals, and the planet.

This review is for Bubby's Bubbles Dryer Balls, 100% New Zealand Wool for Drier Clothes, Less Wrinkles, and Better Planet - 3 Pack.The package with the balls came in a small laundry bag for delicate items. Seeing the mission of this company I completely understand why they would do this rather than package it in something like plastic or cardboard box that needs to be thrown away.I wish they told us how to clean the balls before putting them with our clean clothes in the dryer though. Because the delicate items bag has holes in it, it makes me kind of question the cleanliness of the balls. I sprayed the balls with rubbing alcohol and wiped them with a damp paper towel before letting it air dry and then running it in the dryer cycle once before using it with my clean clothes.It indeed does what it is advertised to do. It does seem to reduce the dryer time and it does seem to leave less wrinkles in clothes. The balls are quite firm and good quality and perfectly round. The balls don't make that big of a sound as compared to other dryer ball products that I've tried, probably because these are made of wool. They also do not have a scent to them. Great product!
