I’ve never used a French press, but one of my friends is fanatical about his so I thought that I’d give it a try. Bodum is a quality brand, and this bubblegum pink one caught my eye so I hit “add to cart”. I’ll admit, the packaging was a little sparse and my box arrived a bit mangled, but everything was intact upon opening. The French press is simple to use and the provided instructions are very straightforward. But there are a couple of things to keep in mind.First, Bodum states in the instructions that 1 rounded scoop of coffee grounds is used for a 4 ounce cup of coffee. If you drink an 8 ounce cup of coffee, you’ll need at least 2 rounded scoops (depending on how strong you like your coffee).Second, Bodum states that once you add the hot (but not boiling) water you’ll need to let it brew for at least 4 minutes (longer if you prefer a stronger sip). So if you are used to Keurig or Nespresso type coffee makers, you’ll need to wait a little longer before you’ve got a hot mug in your hands.I made an 8 ounce, two rounded scoops, cup of coffee that brewed for about 5 minutes. It was nice and strong with no loose grounds in the cup. Afterwards, the French press was easy to clean. Bonus: the components are dishwasher safe. But I just washed mine in the sink, easy peasy.If you are willing to slow down your morning coffee time, this is a great French press at a reasonable price point. And the bright pink color puts a smile on my face. Five stars.

First off, this is a cute little French press. I love the pop of bubblegum pink! It is beautifully made from a quality well-known company, Bodum. It came with directions that are clear and the coffee making process is surprisingly straightforward.I admit I have never used a French press, but I wanted to move away from disposable capsules. So with some trepidation, I assembled everything and read the directions twice. Frankly, it felt a little like my first day in Chemistry class years ago, but the coffee making process was easier than I expected. Because the lid on this French press does not lock, as I was lightly pressing the plunger after the 4-5 minutes of steeping, I also pressed on the lid with my other hand to keep the lid in place. It all went flawlessly. The resulting coffee came out without grounds and had a very enjoyable aroma and taste. I'm sure with repeat use this will become second nature. Be aware, this coffee maker makes up to 8 SERVINGS, and one serving is considered 4 OUNCES. Bear this in mind when you are measuring the coffee grounds. Initially I didn't use quite enough coffee. Of course, the coffee/water ratio can be adjusted to individual taste. Clean up was easy, just unscrew the filter assembly and I chose to hand wash everything. This is not instant coffee, but it is not overly time consuming or complicated and it is better tasting and environmentally friendly.Because I didn't know what to expect, I did use preground coarse coffee designed for a French press coffee maker. If I learn that this is for me I will likely invest in a grinder. But for now, I will enjoy the experience and the coffee. I recommend this product.Care Instructions: Unscrew the filter assembly and clean the plunger unit after each use. Only the filter, glass, plastic and chrome parts are dishwasher safe. There are some safety instructions which I encourage you to read which include: Not for stove top use. Keep away from children while using. Do not allow children to use this coffee maker.
