A must have for active families!

This is a staple in our home. We avoid all the chemicals that are in many first aid creams, so trying to find a first aid cream that actually worked was a challenge ...Until I found this! This helps heal cuts, scrapes, bug bites beautifully!! A little of this magic under a bandaid and I know healing is under way :) We keep this at grandmas, school, everywhere!

Excellent on burns and for people who can't use Neosporin-type creams.

Follow-up: compared scratches on my arms (gardening) and the scratches that I used this cream on healed much much faster. I have used this on cooking burns and mosquito bites with incredible success. The burns stopped hurting within an hour and the bites stopped itching.Previous review: I bought this to use for my mother's post-surgical wound care as she's allergic to those antibiotic creams. I was looking for a substitute for Johnson & Johnson's First Aid Cream since they stopped making it and we finally ran out of the last of it. Beeswax was a primary ingredient in the J&J cream, so I wanted a beeswax-based ointment. It worked very well, although the texture wasn't as spreadable as I'd hoped. It protected the incision as it healed, but didn't keep the stitches soft.I've been applying it to a nasty burn I got the other day. It lessened the pain immediately and the burn seems to be healing better than usual. When applied, it's a thin waxy layer -- of course, the first ingredient is unbleached beeswax. The ointment is hard in the jar, so you have to rub your fingertip around the surface of the ointment to warm it until you get enough to apply. Maybe I should try storing it someplace warm, but I'm afraid it will separate. It smells good, a light pleasant lavender-y scent.

It's healing effects. Pleasant smell. Wish it was a bit more dense. I use on my hands which are dry in the winter. Used one 30years ago and it was thicker and I preferred that consistency.

Beautifully made product

I started doing aromatherapy in mid April. Took two online courses at a reputable aromatherapy school. One of the courses was a Butters & Balms course. It quickly became apparent that herbs are an integral part of the process of making balms and salves. I started making my own herb infused oils to make balms and salves by the beginning of May. Because of that, I'm interested in products that are available commercially. The texture of this product is perfect, I'd call it a salve rather then an ointment. I think of an ointment as being softer--something that is squeezed out of a tube. This is soft enough to rub your finger across the top and not have a need to emulsify in your hands to be able to rub it on an injury. It's soft enough that it wouldn't be painful to rub on a bruise. The ingredients are very nice combination of oils. It's not as greasy as an olive oil salve might be. I do a bug bite roller ball that's lavender and tea tree oil in fractionated coconut oil, so I know this would work well on bug bites (my husband used it on his Lyme disease rash with great success) or any other itchy skin condition that's not "open." The calendula and arnica are good for pain and inflammation. Arnica is also good for bruising, as is lavender. Comfrey and calendula are good for healing wounds. Lavender is often referred to as a medicine chest in a bottle. Tea tree is good for viruses, fungi and bacteria. Lemon is antiseptic. For first aid purposes, you've covered most everything. My only concern is that it's advertised as good for Cuts, Scrapes and Scratches. Arnica is not to be used on open skin. It's very dangerous to use it internally--and if your cut, scrape or scratch is not scabbed over, it's inadvisable to use this product on it. I use arnica in my pain salves, but not my first aid salve. That's the reason I only gave this product 4 stars. As a salve, it really quite exceptional in texture and ingredients.I received this product at a discount for an honest review.
