I used them for solid cologne that I make as well as a full spectrum thc pain relief stick and I have found that after applying my label using a water activated adhesive (like an old lick and stick envelope or stamp) and letting them dry overnight applying a light coating of food grade mineral oil by dunking the open containers and lids individually and wiping them off immediately then allowing them to sit twelve hours or more open end facing down in an upright position and covered (upside down tote for cleanliness) on a baking cooling rack before one last wipe off for good measure and inspection then finally filling with my products. It also works for the brown and white ones. It does change the color differently depending on the color you start with as well as brands due to material difference but it definitely adds a really nice dark uniform richness to the black variety from this seller. Keep in mind that synthetic adhesive peel and stick style labels run the risk of falling off or unsticking themselves unless they are specifically oil resistant and another consideration is that the label color will change to more of a richer darker hue on the darker tube and lighter on the white depending on the paper weight, inks, finish, and especially paper type going translucent. I also just realized that I never shared the actual pro tip I intended to after reading the reviews. I noticed that one customer was struggling with over dispensing the product he filled his cardboard applicators with as well as the obvious well know issue of being dificult to push up sometimes especially the first time the product is pushed up for use. The process described above defiantly helps out a lot with the issue of sticking so solidly during the first push to present the product at the application end. It also helps with the magical trick of getting the product to go back down into the tube if to much has been pushed up and out keeping the user from getting the cap back on cleanly and usually resorting the messy removal of the product that's been over dispensed and disposing of it or attempting to save it for later in another type of container. In the case that the product has been over dispensed or you just want the product back down in the applicator tube and the product within in the tube is of a solid enough consistency you can simply find a solid flat surface like a table or counter or desk top and while holding the cardboard tube in an upright position with the excess amount of protruding product facing upwards give the tub a few solid but gentle flat taps on the hard surface starting gently and increasing the impact intensity until you see it receding back into the tub or beginning to loose it's shape and slump off the top. If you struggle with tapping the bottom flat against the surface make sure to rotate as you tap. The best results are achieved by tapping the bottom flat so it makes a slap or tap noise as opposed to the duller thud of tapping on the edge instead. If it tries to run away down the sides, unfortunately you'll have to give it a cleanup to get the cap back on but if you set it in the refrigerator for about a half hour after cleaning up the spill off and give it another try you may find that it retreats inside instead of off the top and down the side like the previous attempt. If it started to retreat and you kept at it until it reached your desired retracted depth then you mastered a new life skill. If you know or even think it might be to soft or it's really warm and softened just refrigerate it first before attempting to tap retract the product within your applicator to avoid the mess and waste in the first place. I made chapstick and love the thickness of these black push up tubes but next time I'll get the twist up just for convenience because they fall back down which in my opinion didnt like so much. Value of cost was good if I cant find the twist ups I'll purchase these again. LOVE.

I love these paperboard lip balm tubes. They are thick and sturdy and a good value for the purchase. The black color looks wonderful with my label and offers a little bit of variety. Great value and great for the environment.
