Just not for me

I can't take away any stars for the product itself because I'm sure it works great for some people. There are detailed instructions and a little carrying bag. I figured I'd get one to try a different product but it's just not for me.

Good product

This was my first experience using a disc. I am a long term cup user and have had different issues with cups over the years and decided to try something new. My first impression was that i wasn't sure it would be inserted without being able to feel it due to the diameter. I was wrong, I was unable to feel it at all! The pros are that the disc is much bigger than a standard cup, leading to having to change less often. My biggest con was the difficulty to get it out. Prepare to get way up in there! I had to watch a video, and while it wasn't a huge struggle, i'm not sure i would be comfortable doing this in a public restroom or while out and about. It is alot of work!

This didn't work for me

This review is for the Cora "Perfect Fit Disc." I state this as there are several different products offered by this manufacturer, and I want it to be clear to potential purchasers what it is that I tried. Overall, this disc is a solid product and is well made, but, unfortunately, it didn't work well for me.The disc arrives well packaged in an easy to open box. Inside were the disc itself, a storage bag, and detailed usage instructions. Prior to first use, this product is required to be sanitized in boiling water for 5-7 minutes, so it isn't ready to go straight out of the box. Additionally, sanitizing should be repeated between monthly cycles. The provided instruction pamphlet was very thorough and explains step by step (with pictures) how to insert, position, and remove the disc. Despite being easy to follow, I still had difficulty with each part of the process. Some of the trouble is likely due to it being a new type of product for me and the expected learning curve that comes along with that. However, some of it was due to the overall design of the disc itself. It is made of medical grade silicone that is described as being "premium" and "ultra-soft." Most of the material in the collection area does feel soft and pliable. The finger groove and rim are much firmer and stiffer. As such, it was difficult to squeeze the disc into the appropriate figure eight shape needed for insertion. It wanted to keep popping open in my hand, which made getting it into my body trickier than I expected. If you are someone who is squeamish about your own body, then this product is definitely not for you as it requires precision placement up against your pubic bone. I had to do quite a bit of adjusting to get it in the right place. When it is time to be removed, you have to again reach up inside yourself, hook the disc with your finger via the groove, and then carefully slide it out so a mess doesn't result. When the disc was in the correct place, you shouldn't be able to feel it all, nor should it ever feel like it was slipping out. I definitely couldn't notice the disc during wear, nor did I ever feel like it was shifting around inside me. However, within 30 minutes of insertion, I developed an achy pressure in my lower pelvic area. I figured I hadn't gotten the fit exactly right, but it has happened with subsequent uses. From reading I have done, the feeling is likely due to the product pushing/resting against the pubic bone, which leads me to conclude that it is perhaps too big for me. Regardless, I am unlikely to continue using it.Since everyone's experience with personal hygiene products can be vastly different, I didn't think it was fair to give this product less than a 3-star rating. Even though it didn't work for me, it may for someone else.

Menstrual Disc

I have been a loyal cup wearer for more than a decade. I have tried several other discs without success. I gave this one a try hoping that maybe my anatomy or disc designs had changed and the cup would work for me, sadly it did not. I had the same low level leaking with this disc that I had with others. That is no fault of the disc, but rather something with my specific anatomy. I did appreciate the finger grip that is on this disc as it was the first one that I was actually able to empty without removing. I would say that if you are someone for whom menstrual cups do not work or you have never tried a disc, this product is well worth trying. Being able to empty it without actually removing the disc is awesome.
