Linalool is also utilized in formulations for its ability to enhance the sensory experience of personal care and household products.

Sustai Insights

Linalool offers functional benefits as a naturally occurring fragrance component and may exhibit antimicrobial properties. However, it presents high allergenic potential, with concerns about skin irritation and sensitization. Environmental risks include contamination issues, though it is not classified as a persistent pollutant. Regulatory bodies have noted the need for careful handling due to its allergenic nature. Overall, despite some beneficial attributes, the ingredient carries a high risk profile, warranting cautious use and consideration of safer alternatives.

Fragrance

Fragrance

High Risk

Fragrance refers to a mixture of aromatic compounds used in products to provide scent. It is commonly listed as 'fragrance' or 'parfum' on product labels and can serve various functions, including enhancing user experience and masking undesirable odors.

Sustai Insights

Fragrance offers functional benefits by improving product appeal; however, it poses significant health risks, notably a high likelihood of causing allergies and allergic contact dermatitis. Environmental risks include potential pollution and endocrine disruption, though its overall carcinogenicity is low. Regulatory bodies have noted concerns regarding its use, leading to a high-risk classification. Safe usage practices should be observed, and alternatives such as natural essential oils are recommended for those sensitive to synthetic fragrances.

Glutaral

Glutaral

High Risk

Glutaral is a dialdehyde commonly used as a disinfectant and preservative in various products. It functions effectively in microbial control due to its ability to cross-link proteins, making it useful in healthcare and laboratory settings.

Sustai Insights

Glutaral's functional benefits include its efficacy as a preservative and disinfectant. However, it poses moderate health risks, including potential allergic reactions and irritation, with high regulatory restrictions due to its safety profile. Environmentally, it may contribute to pollution but is not considered bioaccumulative. Given these factors, glutaral is assessed as high risk, warranting careful usage and consideration of safer alternatives.

Health risks are low, with minimal concerns regarding carcinogenicity, allergies, and reproductive toxicity. However, moderate use restrictions exist due to potential irritation at high concentrations. Environmental risks are limited, as citric acid is not known to accumulate in ecosystems. Regulatory agencies have no significant advisories against its use. Overall, it is assessed as a medium-risk ingredient, with safe usage practices recommended and alternatives available.

Nice smell, works powerfully

Definitely a level-up in cleaning power from the popular "natural" cleaners brands without probiotics. The deodorizing and product smell is great for places like the bathroom, but a that lingering product fragrance was powerful so close to where we eat in the kitchen, especially in no-rinse areas. Unscented or the lemon herbal options might be wise of kitchen use over the tea and lily option... I'd probably opt to have an unscented for the kitchen next time.

Smells great - does not deter pets

Not sure if it has enzymatic properties as it does not deter my dog from going in the same spot. There are what looks like orange pulp floating around, which does not come out of the sprayer (the chunks are too large) so I’m not sure if it’s for “show”.Without sanitizing properties I would not buy this again. It’s just a fragrant solution in my opinion. I stick to Lysol wipes and steam cleaning.
