A fine razor with the right blades

Leaf Twig is an excellent razor as long as you insert the right blades. With this mild razor, it’s best to use a more aggressive blade. So pair the Twig with the Gillette Nacet, and you have the perfect combination. Just snap the double edged blade in half and slip in one half. Other blades that work decently: Astra SP or Wilkinson. But best of all, Nacet. Note: Feather is also said to work wonders, if you want super extra sharpness at a higher price.

Nice design, but not a cartridge substitute

The motivation of my purchase is that I am tired of spending money on expensive cartridges. I heard that this Leaf Twig a razor shall be a good substitute since it is mild, new user-friendly, and nicely designed.However, after trying for several times, I realized that this Twig is a good choice only for people who are familiar with double-edge (DE) razors since their working mechanisms are basically the same, i.e., shave with large blade gap and zero/negative blade exposure. With the wonderful design of razor head, DE users may efficiently polish the details of their mustaches etc., with the major area shaved by more aggressive DE razors. Yes, this is the way that Twig may significantly benefit experienced DE users, and on the contrary, cartridge users may find it difficult to harness this Twig, since you must adjust the angle and pressure yourself.For those who have newly “transferred” from cartridges, it would be better for you to look for razors with small blade gap but positive blade exposure: that is the way in which cartridge razors work.

I figured I would try this out after my wife had been using the Leaf Razor and loved it. This has been great for me. I don't always love using a razor because of the razor burn and inevitable ingrown hairs. I read review after review about this one and many said it was a great razor and even cut down on the number of cuts during a shave. The shave isn't the closest shave I've ever had, but I do feel it hasn't left me with quite so much razor burn afterwards or ingrown hairs. I also love that I feel like I can be more precise with it. Simple to switch the blades too. The feel of it is great and it has a nice weight. Pretty satisfied overall.
