In an effort to switch all things to cruelty free, I found out my toothpaste tested on animals (WHY. Crest!?!). This toothpaste isn't bad... it does a little aftertaste but it leaves my mouth feeling clean. I just have to rinse quite a bit to get the aftertaste out. It's much thicker than the store brands but a little water and scrub on your teeth, it becomes very sudsy. I'm honestly not thrilled with the taste but it's not horrible and it does the job.

I love the flavor, very fresh, and it seems to be the only toothpaste that seems to help my periodontal disease at all. I also add a few drops of tea tree oil on top of it. Sometimes I'll dissolve LugoTabs (lowest dose, 1/2 tablet) in my mouth and use as a mouthwash. (Yes. It stains enamel, but comes off with a cleaning.) I use bentonite clay to soothe my gums. Also, believe it or not, I make a mouthwash of Panacur C at times. Other times baking soda, brushing gently. Hydrogen peroxide.I also have been taking berberine. Berberine is a blood thinner and a natural ACE inhibitor, so make sure you check your medications to make sure there aren't any contraindications. Lisinopril is one ACE inibitor, a hypertension medication. You should also ask your doctor if taking the berberine, but even my cardiologist has never heard of it.I kind of went off on a tangent here, but this toothpaste is a staple. I only use the others if I'm clenching my teeth. I can tell if I need the others, too, just from the clenching.

Too bad I do not have a before and after but I can tell you I definitely saw an improvement immediately. I had been using the melaleuca whitening tooth polish which getting is no easy task. I am almost out of that brand and this tube of Dessert Essence was gifted to me. I tried it and it works pretty much the same. I don't know if its because of the number of teeth I have left to brush but neither brand requires more than a 1/8" ribbon to for complete brushing and foaming. The DENTTO is a far better investment as it does not require a subscription along with the promise of your first born to get and there's 6.25oz. At this time I will only alternate between the two or just baking soda adding a listerine rinse which is not necessary if using the paste. I like that it contains NEEM *Neem leaf is used for leprosy, eye disorders, bloody nose, intestinal worms, stomach upset, loss of appetite, skin ulcers, diseases of the heart and blood vessels (cardiovascular disease), fever, diabetes, gum disease (gingivitis), and liver problems. The leaf is also used for birth control and to cause abortions. *taken from webmd and is gluten free whatever that means, fluoride free and contains baking soda which is what I would use if I had no paste at all which is what I will be back to when I run out of my freebies.
