Vitamin D3

Vitamin D3

High Risk

Vitamin D3, also known as cholecalciferol, is a fat-soluble vitamin important for calcium metabolism and bone health. It is synthesized in the skin upon exposure to sunlight and is also found in some foods and supplements. Its primary function is to promote the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the body.

Sustai Insights

Vitamin D3 offers functional benefits such as supporting bone health and immune function. However, excessive intake can lead to toxicity, presenting risks like hypercalcemia. Environmental concerns include its potential for bioaccumulation. Regulatory bodies impose usage restrictions due to these risks, resulting in a high overall risk assessment. Safe usage practices should be observed, and alternatives such as vitamin D2 may be considered.

Calcite

Calcite

Low Risk

Calcite is a mineral primarily made up of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). It is commonly found in sedimentary rocks and is used in various applications, including construction, agriculture, and as a filler in products due to its whiteness and brightness.

Sustai Insights

Calcite offers functional benefits such as acting as a filler and providing opacity in products. It is sustainably sourced and biodegradable. Health risks are minimal, with low concerns regarding carcinogenicity, allergies, and reproductive toxicity. Environmental risks are also low, as calcite does not contribute significantly to pollution or bioaccumulation. Regulatory bodies do not impose restrictions on its use, affirming its safety. Overall, the risk level associated with calcite is low, making it a safe ingredient in various applications.

Sand

Sand

Low Risk

Sand is loose, granular particles of worn or disintegrated rock, primarily composed of silica. It is commonly used as an abrasive, filler, or in construction and landscaping for its structural properties.

Sustai Insights

Sand offers functional benefits such as providing bulk and texture in various products, and it is generally considered to have low health risks, with minimal concerns regarding carcinogenicity, allergies, or reproductive toxicity. Environmentally, sand does not contribute significantly to pollution and is not bioaccumulative. Regulatory bodies do not impose restrictions on sand usage, maintaining its low-risk status. Safe usage practices should be followed to avoid inhalation of fine particles. Overall, sand is a low-risk ingredient with no notable negative impacts.

Vegetarian Glycerin

Sustai Insights

Vegetarian glycerin offers functional benefits as an effective humectant, promoting hydration and skin smoothness. It is biodegradable and typically sustainably sourced. Health risks associated with glycerin are low, with no significant concerns for carcinogenicity, allergens, or reproductive toxicity. Environmental risks are minimal, and it is not subject to major regulatory warnings. Overall, the risk level for this ingredient is low, making it a safe choice in formulations. Safe usage practices include ensuring proper concentrations in products, and alternatives such as propylene glycol exist but may have differing properties.

Hydroxymethylcellulose

Hydroxymethylcellulose

Low Risk

Forever grateful for this company!!

Let me tell you something about this vitamin d!! My husband has always been really low on vitamin D. It runs in his genes where almost every one in their family has to go in and get IV vitamin d. Well we started taking this a few months ago and 2 months ago he went for his usual testing and they called and said he didn’t need his shot this month. So thinking it was just a one time occurrence he went back the next time for the his testing and his doctor actually called him and started asking him a ton of questions about what he was doing differently and the only thing was that we had switched to this brand of vitamin d. He’s always taken a vitamin d supplement but not this brand. Well his doctor was so happy with his numbers that he said he feels as long as he keeps taking this one he doesn’t think he needs to come in for the IV’s anymore. I’m a huge natural health nut (I even run a natural heath blog) and have done a huge amount of research on this company and I can’t say one bad thing about them. I will forever be a life long customer of this company! Thank you for the life changing products. I will forever be thankful and so will my husband!!!
